Bluefin E-Swift Electric Paddleboard Pump Review and Test

The Bluefin E-Swift electric pump is designed to inflate 1 to 2 paddleboards up to 20 psi. It has a big display and large buttons. It is one of the faster pumps we have tested. It is also one of the largest and heaviest pumps, even though it does not have an internal battery or a separate cooling fan.

What we liked:

  • Fast inflation times. The 3rd fastest pump we have tested
  • Easy to read display with big, easy to read buttons
  • It comes with cords for use with a 12 volt outlet or alligator clips for connecting directly to a battery

What we didn’t like:

  • The display is hard to read in bright sunlight
  • Large size and weight for a pump not designed for multiple boards or battery powered
  • No built in cord storage

Bluefin E-Swift Pump Features

The E-Swift is a new pump design from Bluefin. It is designed to inflate paddleboards up to 20 psi. It can inflate and deflate. It is a large pump with a heavy duty case with padding around the corners. It looks like it is ready to stand up to some abuse. It is one of the larger and heavier pumps we have tested, weighing in at 4.8 lbs.

The pump has a big display with large numbers. The buttons are the biggest buttons I have seen on any paddleboard pump. The black display is hard to read in sunlight. Electric paddleboard pumps should all stick to grey LCD displays. They are easy to read in any light conditions. Black displays make the pump look good, but who cares when it’s hard to read?

1 – Inflate 1 to 2 boards

The pump is designed for inflating 1 to 2 boards in a row. On a cooler day, you can get 3. On a hot day, you run the risk of overheating. The pump does not have a separate dedicated cooling fan. The case is really large, which should help with heat dissipation but it won’t pump 10 boards in row like a Nixy Ventus.

According to the manual, you need to let it cool for 30 minutes after running it for 30 minutes. It takes 7 to 8 minutes to inflate the average 10’6″ all around board. It takes 12.5 minutes to inflate a big 12’6″ touring board to 20 psi. That means 2 to 3 boards 30 minutes.

2 – 12 Volt Power

The pump uses 12 volts. It comes with 2 cords. One with a 12 volt outlet. The other has alligator clips. You can plug whichever cord you need into the back of the pump.

3 – 6 fittings for inflating almost anything

The pump includes a 3 foot air hose with 6 hose fittings and a few different thickness rubber gaskets. This will inflate almost any water toy or inflatable mattress. It has separate inflate and deflate ports. You screw the hose onto the inflate port or deflate port, depending on what you want to do.

If the H3 fitting won’t seal on your paddleboard, you may have to switch the rubber gasket to a different thickness. All H3 valves in paddleboards are not exactly the same.

4 – Inflation Speed

How fast is the E-Swift pump? Does it live up to the Swift name?

We did our standard paddleboard inflation test with the E-Swift pump. We inflate a generic 10’6″ x 32″ all around paddleboard to 14psi. We inflate a 12’6″ x 32″ touring SUP to 15 psi and 20 psi. We time how long it takes. We use a 12 volt power supply for these tests to be consistent with all pumps we have tested.

It took the pump 7 minutes and 18 seconds to inflate our 10’6″ all around board to 14 psi. Anything under 8 minutes is a fast time. The fastest pump we have ever tested took 7 minutes and 5 seconds. The slowest pump took over 11 minutes.

The pump took 9 minutes and 6 seconds to inflate the 12’6″ touring board to 15psi. It took 12 minutes and 25 seconds to inflate it to 20 psi. The majority of pumps we have tested have taken 14 to 15 minutes. We have only ever tested one pump that did it in less than 12 minutes.

Recommendation – Buy or No Buy?

The Bluefin E-Swift is one of the faster electric paddleboard pumps out there. It is easy to use with big buttons. It’s a good pump if you only need to inflate a couple of boards in a row. The downsides are that it is a bit big and bulky, and the display is hard to read in bright sunlight.
